Policies and procedures for library services and materials
The U/C Library provides study rooms to groups of at least two and no more than ten BC and FAU students.
Group study rooms are to be used for academic purposes only.
Rooms are not to be used for social gatherings, tutoring, non-academic projects, classes, meetings, evaluations, testing, etc.
We encourage faculty to meet one on one with students in the Academic Success Center as the group study rooms cannot be used for this purpose.
By reserving a study room, the group agrees to abide by the rules and regulations regarding room usage and U/CL’s Building Use Policy.
Groups are responsible for the condition of the room. If damage is seen upon entering the room, report it to the Circulation Department immediately.
Library staff has the right to refuse the use of a study room if the U/CL, College, or University policies are violated.
Smoking or the use of other tobacco products is prohibited.
Food is not allowed in the rooms.
Drinks in covered containers are allowed in the rooms.
Signs cannot be posted in a group study room.
Group study room windows must remain uncovered.
Furniture may not be moved in or out of a study room.
Loan Periods & Charges
At least two BC or FAU students must be present with their valid college student ID-card.
Group study rooms may be reserved for up to two hours; one renewal if no new group is waiting
The room key will be checked out to one person in the group who is responsible for returning it on time to the Circulation Department.
A $5.00 per hour fine is charged for late key returns.
There is an $81.00 charge for a lost key.
Study room keys may not be taken out of the building.
The rooms are assigned by library staff. We will try to honor your request, but some rooms may not be available due to the size of the group and size of the room.
If the room has a white board, you may check out markers and an eraser from the Circulation Department.
The student who checked out the room may renew it for two hours if no other group is waiting. Renewals are accepted 10 minutes prior to the expiration time of the room.
New groups that are waiting for an available room are given priority over renewals.
If at any time, all study rooms are occupied and new groups are waiting, any group member who is currently part of a group that has a room MAY NOT sign up for the next available room.
In order to accommodate demand during final exams, there is no guarantee of the renewal of a study room.
Items Left in Study Room
Please return all library materials to a book truck near the shelves when you are finished. The U/C Library is not responsible for any personal belongings left in a group study room. Items found in a room will be turned over to Campus Safety in Building 20.
