For a generation raised on the ideology of “open source” and the ability to quickly cut and paste, the concept of plagiarism may seem foreign or passé. And that, of course, can lead to trouble. This video examines the behaviors that constitute plagiarism, their consequences, and the best ways to avoid them.

Breaches of Broward College’s policy on academic honesty may result in academic penalties and/or disciplinary action. At the discretion of the instructor, academic penalties may include, but are not limited to:

A failing grade for a particular assignment
A failing grade for the course

In addition, the instructor or another BC employee may refer a student to the Dean of Student Affairs for student disciplinary action in accordance with the BC Student Handbook. Such discipline may include:

Suspension or expulsion from the College
