Student Research Initiative Project

About

U/CL Information Sessions

The University/College Library is hosting three information sessions to assist students with research and poster creation/presentations, and are open to all students who plan to conduct research and/or present at a professional or academic poster session. Students do not need to attend all three, nor are they in any particular order. Registration is required.

What is “Research?” An Introduction
Students will be introduced to what “research” is, discuss personal information gathering methods, and be shown how to better utilize Google searches to find credible information.

Advanced Research Techniques
Take research to the next level and learn how to search subject-level databases, identify scholarly publications, use Boolean search techniques, and employ citation chaining to find relevant information.

Poster Creation and Presentation
This info session is for students who are presenting or planning to present at a poster session. Poster sessions are a common event at academic or professional conferences, and are used to present research to participants and peers. This session will provide tips on how to create effective posters, including both content and design.
