We provide a welcoming, safe space — an inclusive home that celebrates, nurtures and empowers the LGBTQ+ communities and our friends and neighbors in South Florida.
Our work focuses on social justice issues critical to the transgender and nonbinary community, such as incarceration, violence, engagement with law enforcement, quality health care, and homelessness issues. In 2019 TransAction launched the TransAction Leadership Academy which has helped to teach transgender youth about advocacy and how to use their voice.
Pride Fort Lauderdale is the oldest Pride celebration in the state of Florida, born in 1977 from protests following a successful public referendum to overturn a landmark Miami-Dade County gay rights ordinance. Over the years, Pride South Florida, now known as Pride Fort Lauderdale, has taken many different forms from protests and parades to celebrations and beach festivals.
The Foundation seeks to create institutional culture change within all organizations to openly welcome and include LGBT+ residents. Since the launch of Broward Pride, we have seen great traction with our previously supported projects when a mainstream organization works collaboratively and in tandem with an LGBT+ organization to implement and create sustainable change.
