Your Assignment

Students will submit a 7-page research paper on a topic discussed in class or relating to corrections and the prison system. Topics include but are not limited to:
  • Educational programs in correctional facilities
  • Privatization of prisons
  • Correctional personnel and consensual sex
  • Correctional personnel and sexual assault
  • Mental health care and services for inmates
  • Drug and alcohol use in prisons
  • Native Americans and incarceration
  • Prison safety
  • Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA)
  • Prison overcrowding
  • Inmate adjustment programs
  • Female inmates on death row
