ENC 1102 - Prof. Dewey: Your Assignment

Problem/Solution Assignment on the south Florida Environment

Problem-Solution Assignment

Students will research a problem currently affecting south Florida's environment. Current and concrete data on the dimensions of the problem and why it is a problem should be explored. After examining what has been done to remedy the problem thus far, students will propose a modest, but viable, solution to the problem. Below is a list of research topics:
  • Landfills and Diapers
  • Everglades Conservancy
  • Coral Reef Preservation
  • Eroding Beaches
  • Coyotes in the Cities
  • The Extinction of the Honey Bees
  • Dirty Energy
Recommendation: government websites are great tools to locate data and other supporting evidence. The Environmental Protection Agency and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection are two great resources to explore.
