Florida State Courts

  • Florida County Courts
    County Court is a trial-level court. It has jurisdiction over civil disputes involving $15,000 or less, and misdemeanor criminal trials.
  • Florida Circuit Courts
    Circuit Courts are the trial courts for civil disputes involving over $15,000, felony criminal offenses, and any other issue not covered by County Court. Cases decided in County Court may be appealed to Circuit Court.
  • Florida District Courts of Appeal
    A case that has been tried in Circuit Court can be appealed to District Court.
  • Florida Supreme Court
    A case that has been heard in District Court can be appealed to the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court's decision is final.
