Narrowing your topic helps to focus your research paper.
Once you choose a topic, ask open-ended questions about your chosen topic that begin with Who, What, Where, When, Why and How. These types of questions will help you to narrow your topic.
In each library topicguide a section titled "Narrow Your Topic", lists similar questions on a specific subject.
This is a 3.5 min. video on how to narrow your topic for a more effective research paper.
