5 Ways to Print

Seahawk Print Tutorial

FAU Printing

FAU students, please use this link to learn more about the services available to you at the U/C Library.

Printing in D2L

For files inside D2L, we recommend saving the file to the desktop or a thumb drive before printing. Printing directly from D2L can create problems.

Pro Tip!

Use the page preview feature before sending your job to print. Double checking your work may save some unnecessary pages and save a tree.

Remember to Recycle

Please discard paper and only paper in the blue bins around the print and kiosk areas.

Trouble Printing from Acrobat Reader?

  1. With the PDF file open, choose Print from the File menu within Acrobat Reader.
  2. Click Advanced.
  3. Check the "Print as Image" option in the Print dialog.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Click Print.
  6. If you still have trouble, ask for help at a service desk.

Why is it taking so long to print?

  • If there are lots of images in the document it could delay the printing, as images take longer than simple text to print.
  • Sometimes the printer can't find the "end" of the document (this is a corrupt job and it happens when the file is being downloaded from the web).

Seahawk Print System

The Ricoh/EFI printing system is here!  You can now print, scan, and copy with a standard Debit Card or Credit Card (Visa, Master Card and Discover).

If you do not have a credit card, you can purchase a "Gift Card" at the Bookstore. It has $25 of credit and costs $3.95 for a total of $28.95. You cannot add more value to it.

Printing with BC ID

Printing using your BC ID card will not be supported after October 31, 2016.

Before you start:

  • The U/C Library or LRC printing network is $.10 per page for standard black & white prints. Color printing is available in the LRC with BC ID or guest card for $.50 per page. The printers do not accept cash or coins.
When you are ready to print:
  • Print as you would normally by selecting "Print".
  • The printer is automatically selected (it should read UCL Print). You will need to give each print job a name; that name will appear on the print station when you go to the printer.
Printing multiple documents:
  • Give each job the same name or you can append the name with a number or letter: example "Jane1; Jane2; TimmyA; TimmyB". Once you enter the first part of the name, all jobs with that name will appear.
Printing double-sided documents:
  • Printing on each side of the page is a snap, simply select the "print on both sides" option on the print preview page. The cost is only $.10 per sheet of paper and you'll be happy to know that you're saving a tree by not wasting paper.
Printing on legal size paper:
  • Printing on legal size paper (8.5" x 14") is an option available to you and should be used for legal-sized documents or those papers that require an increased output size.
To get your printouts:
  • Go to any of the 3 print release stations on the first floor.
  • Insert your BC ID Card or Guest card into the card reader located to the left of the keyboard.
  • You will be prompted to enter the name you gave the print job when you sent it for printing.
  • On the screen, you will see a list of your print jobs.
  • One at a time, select the job you want to print and press the Print Selected button. The job you selected will disappear from the list of jobs once it has been printed.
  • To print multiple jobs, hold the Ctrl button on the keyboard and use the mouse to select the jobs you want to print, and then press the Print Selected button.
  • Your print-outs will appear on the printer beside the print station.
  • When you are finished printing, press the "Quit" button and your card will be returned to you. Please remember to take your card from the card reader.

NOTE: If you are using a lab computer, your print-out request will remain available for up to 4 hours. If you send a request using the wireless print service, it will be available for up to 24 hours.
